Souleymane’s Story
Souleymane ist aus Guinea geflüchtet und versucht in Frankreich einen Asylantrag zu stellen. Da er keinen Pass hat, braucht er dringend Geld, um an Papiere zu kommen. Dafür schlägt er sich unter haarsträubenden Bedingungen als Fahrradkurier für einen Food Delivery Service in Paris über die Runden. Es bleiben ihm nur noch 48h bis zum Termin beim Migrationsamt.Boris Lojkine, der mit Camille 2019 den Publikumspreis in Locarno gewann, schafft mit Souleymanes Geschichte ein hochspannendes und bewegendes Drama über Migration, die Gig Economy und das Leben in einer Grossstadt. Für seine Darstellung von Souleymane wurde Abou Sangare in Cannes sowie bei den European Film Awards zum besten Hauptdarsteller gekürt.
As he pedals through the streets of Paris to deliver meals, Souleymane repeats his story. In two days, he has to go through his asylum application interview, the key to obtaining papers. But Souleymane is not ready.
Regie
Boris Lojkine is a French director and screenwriter. He studied philosophy at the École Normale Supérieure, earning an agrégation and completing a thesis on “Crisis and History.” After leaving academia, he lived in Vietnam, where he made the documentaries CEUX QUI RESENT and LES ÂMES ERRANTES. His debut feature HOPE, exploring migration in Africa, premiered at Cannes’ Critics’ Week and won numerous international awards. His second feature, CAMILLE, received the Audience Award in Locarno. SOULEYMANE’S STORY, presented in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section, is his third feature film.
